This looks really good! Just makes you want to design a game in a castle. Can I ask if the tiles are 16x16, and how many colours are in the palette?

Hi, yes, the tiles are 16x16. I didnt use a limited palette when making the sets in this this series, but the total number of colour for this particular set is 56.

I'm actually in the process of re-working all the sets in the Pinefields series to include an extra limited palette style of the originals :)

Are you looking for a partical palette?

Well I mostly use PICO-8, so I nearly always have to rework asset packs to use them. The spritesheet is small and there are 16 colours on screen (from 32 fixed colours), so the difficulty is different for every pack :)

I may get this pack to use with another engine some day!

Thats interesting, I was just experimenting with using the PICO-8 palette as an alternative palette for these sets because I feel l can get a very nice looking style with it. Although I'm not too familiar with PICO-8 limitations yet, so I'm not sure if I'm able to mix and match from the 32 colours to create the 16 colour palette. Would you happen to know?

Yes exactly, you define a palette for your game (or for specific screens in your game) by picking from the available 32 colours.

Most games only use the official palette (default 16 colours), which contributes to pico8 games being easily recognizable (also thanks to resolution and default font!), some games change a few colours, some change all 16 slots. There are some nice examples on the bbs (pico8 forum) or twitter — if you join the pico8 discord server I could find some (I have the same nick there).

This is unofficial documentation: https://pico-8.fandom.com/wiki/Palette A tool to try and convert any image to a palette: https://github.com/axnjaxn/PicoImageProc (two notes: source images should be 128x128 for best results; the resulting palette is often jambled compared to the original)

(Note that there’s a palette swap technique that’s easy to use for example to recolour a green mushroom to be red, or make an animated sprite by packing multiple frames in one sprite. And there’s a secret trick to show more than 16 colours on one screen but it’s not easy and I’m not sure it would work for a tileset used for background anyway.)

Thank you, I will definitely check into this more! Finishing up a PICO8 experiment on this set. It's been quite challenging getting it to look right but its a blast!

Hey, I like your Tilesets, but I need more tiles for my game. Would it be possible to "order" assets from you? If possible you can contact me on Discord: Perry # 7572

Wow you're good at making tilesets, cant wait to see more!

Thank you! Yeah, more on the way! :)

Awesome! Are you gonna put these in a bundle sale soon?

Yup, hopefully by the end of the month 4 tileset packs planned for this series should all be complete and be available in a bundle!

I will buy that bundle! Cant Wait FOR IT!!!
